Dr. Ravinder Kaur has been working to conserve hornbills in Malaysia for over 17 years. She obtained her PhD in Ecology from Universiti Malaya while she earned her Master's in Science, Ecology, and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Conservation Biology from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. She currently lectures on biostatistics and biodiversity at the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Medical Sciences, at Sunway University. Dr Ravinder is also the scientific director of Xploregaia, a social enterprise she established with her husband, Sanjitpaal Singh, an award-winning wildlife photographer. Gaia is dedicated to hornbill conservation and research in Malaysia. She has won 2 awards over the years for her work with Hornbills: the Christian Marsh and the Conservation Leadership Programme awards. In 2022, Gaia received The Star Golden Hearts Award for the team's conservation efforts in Malaysia.
