Trading has to be rule-based, but not do it on a whim. Traders need to have a well-defined trading system and portfolio management strategy in order to make profits sustainably and manage risks effectively.
If you adhere to your rules and lose money, that is completely normal. Because the market is volatile and there is no trading system that can deliver 100% win all the times. But if you break your rules due to greed and hope, that is not okay. Indiscipline in trading will eventually lead to disastrous outcome.
