The Intermediary Role of Futures Brokers and Their Representatives
Futures brokers act as intermediaries or “middle persons” to provide their clients access to the Exchange to buy or sell derivatives contracts. In Malaysia, dealing in derivatives is a regulated activity, and only those licensed by Securities Commission Malaysia are allowed to provide services of dealing in derivatives. To do that, Futures Brokers, and their Futures Broker Representatives (FBRs) must hold the Capital Markets Services Licence (CMSL) and Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence (CMSRL), respectively.
