At the time of writing, REITs have made its presence in Malaysia for a good 15 years since their inception in year 2005. It is timely for us to examine the unit price performance of M-REITs over this period. While much have been said about the high distribution (dividend) yield feature of M-REITs, relatively less have been written about total returns (distribution and capital gain) offered by MREITs vis-à-vis general stocks and bond markets. This lesson attempts to fill this gap through the following graphical evidence presented below.
